Hanova Spring Carnival, May 11th
On Saturday, May 11th, Hanova hosted its 1st annual Spring Carnival - an historic day for our school! The event was a celebration of fun, food, games, activities and entertainment! This years' talent show included musical instrument recitals with harmonica, ocarina, piano, and traditional Chinese flute, as well as jokes, singing, dances, and much more. All of the event proceeds went to charity!

Chinese New Year Celebration 2013
Hanova hosted its first Chinese New Year celebration on February 7, 2013. The afternoon included a variety of performances. Hanova’s PYP students (N/R - Year 5) performed a variety of Chinese songs, dances and band performances along with a Chinese New Year game show. Hanova’s MYP students (Years 6-12) helped narrate the event and also participated in a band performance.

'Life in Colour' Art Exhibition
Hanova’s first whole school art exhibition was opened on Monday, 4th February to an audience of parents and students. This exhibition in the school foyer shows off the artistic talent of students from 3 to 18 years of age under the guidance of our art teacher Mrs Carrie Varjavandi. Many people besides the students have helped to put this exhibition on and our thanks go to them.
'A Christmas Carol' 2012
Our inaugural performance at Hanova took place on December 12-13, 2012. You could feel the excitement in the air before “opening night”. The students put on a tremendous performance that was a fitting climax to the preparations that started six weeks ago. We thank everyone who gave of their time and talents to make this performance possible!

Hanova Duathlon 2012
Hanova held first formal sporting event on November 10, 2012. All of the students did remarkably well by taking part in a running event and a cycling event. Some of the students even learned to ride a bike for the first time. The determination and effort from so many of the students were really impressive, with even the youngest students able to take part.

International Day 2012
On Wednesday, October 17th, we celebrated International Day! As an International School we are celebrating the different nationalities and cultures that we have within our school community. From lively games and activities to great food from around the world - International Day 2012 was a great success! Thanks to all who participated!
Hanova's Youngest Students Display Their Work
The first few weeks of school at Hanova have been a time of hard work for everyone! During a recent school assembly, Hanova's Nursery/Reception and Year 1 class displayed their masterpieces!
First Day of School at Hanova!
On Monday, September 3, 2012, Hanova began classes for the first time! It was an exciting day for everyone. Monday was the culmination of weeks and months of hard work, extensive building renovations, curriculum development and staff preparation!

  • Movember 2012
    Many of the students had a most enjoyable time last Friday, 30th November in assembly and coming to school in non-uniform. The generosity of the students, staff and parents raised a total of ¥3,350 which will be sent on to Yellow River Soup Kitchen before Christmas to help them in a small way to carry on their good work.

  • Hanova's building renovations have been completed.
    Hanova's building renovations have been completed! A few finishing touches on the basketball and tennis courts will wrap up a summer of hard work. The Hanova board and leadership team led a successful project to prepare the school building to begin classes on September 3rd.

    Hanova's 'Open Day' event brought out many families from the very diverse international community of Xi'an. The Hanova leadership team presented the school's philosophy and aims as it moves toward opening day.

Ms Carrie Varjavandi
Art Teacher
Ms Varjavandi has been teaching art in universities, schools and communities over the last 15 years. She studied at the Glasgow School of Art and at Dundee University. She moved to Xi’an from Scotland last year with her husband and joined her son here. Ms Varjavandi continues to produce and exhibit her own art work.

Classes began on September 3rd!

Class is in session! The Hanova International Department of Bodi School has started its first school year. After months of hard work, building renovations and staff preparation, Hanova began classes on Monday, September 3, 2012.

Hanova is a community-driven, independently owned and operated organization backed by the Hanova Company and Bodi School. The school is located southwest of the Xi'an city wall, just inside the West 3rd Ring Road. It is located about 10 minutes from the intersections of Tangyan Road and Keji Road (Lotus Supermarket).
